Summary | 0009213: Werecreatures can be ordered if you assign them to a squad
Description | A dwarf was bitten by a werepig so to lock him into a room I assigned him to a squad and made the room into a barracks. When I reached another full moon, he transformed as expected, but he didn't move. I tried to assign another point for him to move, and he obeyed as a soldier would do. I moved him out of the barracks and he was promptly attacked and killed by other dwarves. I couldn't see if he attacked first. Maybe the problem is bigger and you can order them 'k'ill or patrl, but I didn't test it.
Steps To Reproduce | Have a dwarf infected with licantropy and recruit it to a squad.

Which version are you using? I think even at least in 0.40.24, if not before, so sooner than current 0.42.X, there were several threads about how to use wereinfected dwarves as military. Not sure if you could really give them orders in transformed form, though. http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Werebeast#Werebeast_Military says "Transformed military dwarves respect their stations, alerts and uniforms (when applicable) and ignore the civilian alert, but will still attack anything they regard as an enemy, such as their fellow dwarves or any destroyable buildings", "...cancel all their orders before they change back to dwarves" So I guess this behavior is around for a while. Is it really bug or a feature? Those are your own dwarves so why should they not obey commands, at least while they don't see anything around they can rip necks of? |

It happened in 0.42.01. I think it should be treated as a bug. Werecreatures are supposed to lose control when transformed, so you shouldn't have ways to control them. |
