Summary | 0009265: Deep Ocean makes DF run slowly.
Description | The problem here is, that when in the deep ocean (I mean when you're really far out in the ocean), the game will start to slow down. I will try to provide a more detailed explanation. When I push shift+q, I can see that I am around three spaces from land. This is right now. I am trying to cross the ocean moving from south, to north. For a while everything is going fine, but then I see the fps counter freeze, and I find myself unable to do anything. After about 8-10 seconds everything returns to normal, and I can move again. So I continue moving north. I get about 48 spaces (Yes, I counted) and it happens again. This will continue until I get near the shore.
Steps To Reproduce | 1: Make an adventure mode character. 2: Try to swim across an ocean.

The farther out you go, the slower it gets. |
48 is the width of a local tile. It's loading a new area of the map. |
Why does it only slow down like this when you're in the ocean then? Hmm... Could it be perhaps because it has to load so much water? |
I guess all those water tiles need to be recalculated for water movement. And possibly (I myself haven't been yet so far from land) it may have bit troubles with your widened view range, seeing both up and down, all around you. |
