Summary | 0009277: Butchers process long dead creatures.
Description | I don't even know if this is a bug but I've noticed that my butchers frequently bring corpse of creatures that have been dead for years, and sometimes decades, in the workshop, they work on it for a while and then they leave to grab another carcass. Essentialy my butchers are never idle. It's less common but I've noticed that sometimes even the shearers do so.

Almost certainly intentional. This has been happening since 34.11 at least. It's just coming up more often because now Forgotten Beasts attack cavern beasties. If you don't want your butchers to butcher skeletons, you can turn off autobutcher or forbid the corpses. |

It is intentional that butchers process skeletons for bones. If you have a save demonstrating a shearer working on a dead carcass, please compress (.zip) your DF/data/save/region folder, upload it to http://dffd.bay12games.com/, and post a link to it in a new bug report. |
