Summary | 0009569: Aborting Baron Appointment Caused Odd Behavior
Description | Somewhat out of the way fortress but still received migrants regularly after the first two waves. The Liaison came annually along with a [dwarven] trading caravan. The Liaison eventually expressed a desire for my settlement to join the kingdom with the appointment of a Baron. Refused the appointment the first two or so years, on the third meeting accepted and began looking for a dwarf to recommend for promotion / elevation. While looking I changed my mind and ESC/aborted out of the recommendation screen. The rest of the usual Liason screen never occurred nor did the game revert to the previous screen with an option to decline a Baron. He left immediately with his usual departing message. No discussion of import/export agreement. Trading caravan never arrived, though it appears that their goods did, but only in some kind of limbo state. A bunch of the goods they [normally] bring show up in red on the stocks screen, but when attempting to view them, simply take you to the edge of the map with no objects present. No massacre, no ambush, no bodies, no trace of the caravan. The Liaison has not been seen since [2 years] No caravans have been seen since [2 years] No migrants have arrived since [2 years] No children have been born since [2 years / unrelated?] As far as I can tell the Dwarven race and kingdom is still very much alive with a King, several Baron/Baronesses etc.
Steps To Reproduce | Reproducibility not yet attempted, these are the steps as best I remember that led to the current dilemma. 1) Establish an out of the way Fort, this one was reasonably near the south pole. Very cold all year. 2) Grow normally until the Liaison informs you that your settlement is being considered as a Barony. 3) Tell him no for the first few years. 4) Finally accept his offer and browse for a candidate. 5) ESC/Abort out of candidate selection If it is reproducible, he should immediately tell you, "Our fortunes rise and fall together" and depart-- no trading caravan should arrive at the depot etc.
