Summary | 0009633: War animal's eye tooth carried between tomb and stockpile (endless loop).
Description | Since I doubt this is the same issue as the issues resolved in 2010 and 2012, I'll make a new bug report for this. In the save at http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11861, you can view the queen, Lady Gemrock, who is carrying an eye tooth with a store item in stockpile job, which belonged to a recently deceased (old age) giant war grizzly. Now I don't know if that grizzly ever got injured sparring with wildlife or not, or that the item just appeared early spring when she died of old age. A few frames ago she carried the eye tooth to the bear's tomb, with a store item in tomb job. After arriving there, she is now returning the eye tooth to a stockpile. Apparently it does not fit in the coffin. Once it's back in the stockpile, it will be moved to the tomb again, ad infinitum (or until I dump and atomsmash the darn thing) So, somewhat of a double bug here. Eye teeth should not exist, and they should not be rejected from a coffin when they do exist.
Additional Information | save world created in 42.05, transferred to 42.06, no modding except for adding +100 to giant cave spider maxage stats, and removing some FPS crushing nasties like crundles and cave bats (I think those are actually the only 2 removed).

It's likely the eye tooth got created somehow when the war grizzly was fighting wildlife. There's a combat report with it's name on it. Sadly, it's too old to shed any light on details (no recent annoncements) |

Why should canine teeth (also called eye teeth) not exist? |
|
@Knight Otu the term "eye tooth" is only applicable to humans and other creatures whose muzzles are short enough that the canines visually fall beneath the eyes. This would be okay and very dwarfy if it wasn't also applied to canine teeth of long-faced animals such as pigs. |
|
No comment on the bug itself, but as far as I know there's no such thing as a muzzle raw-wise currently, so DF won't be able to distinguish between creatures with a (long) muzzle and without. (I tried to give canids better furcolors a while back and noticed none of them had muzzles) Might be worth a seperate bugreport(or maybe suggesting to turn them into canines) or at the very least some experimenting in modding forum. |
