Summary | 0009642: Some pond filling jobs take a long detour
Description | I had a number of pond filling jobs and some of the took a much longer path to get done than the others. I've reproduced my situation in the following save: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11872. In the save I've just designated the 4 pond zones while the game is paused, so they should not have been assigned yet. Wait a number of minutes for the dorfs to haul water to the location. The two northern pond tiles are filled from the tiles to the west, using a shorter route, while the two southern tiles are filled from the east, using a much longer path. A less extreme, but common, example of odd pond filling is that dwarves often pass by the tile to be filled to dump from the last tile that can reach the dump site, rather than the first one. For example, if a tile to the west of a N/S ledge is to be filled and the hauler comes from the north, the hauler passes by both the tile to the NE and the tile to the E to perform the dumping from the SE. Sometimes they the water dumping is done efficiently, though, and I've found no pattern in which ones are done which way.
Additional Information | Using the Lazy Newb Pack r01 with Dwarf Therapist, the Phoebus tile set, and Dwarf Therapist Performance Tweaks. I've used and removed the Crimson Crops mod, and modified gremlins to double their size mid save to allow gremlins to wear kobold clothes.
