This isn't a bug, you need to install the latest Visual C++ Redistributable https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 |

Thanks for the link; however, I don't think that's meant to be a requirement for playing DF. If it is, there should probably be a note/link to that effect next to the DF download links on the main page. |

There's some discussion on that matter on this releases' thread http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=158868.0 <--Here If the download I provided doesn't work, Toady has uploaded some other stuff that might fix the issue it seems in that thread. |

I did not have this issue on my desktop, but did with the laptop. Installing the latest redistrubutable (the x86 version) solved this. |

Ack. I haven't had the chance to try that test version, especially since the laptop had no recurrence of this issue when I snagged the latest redistrubutable. ._. |

I'm pretty sure Toady fixed this in 0.43.05, given the lack of reports since. |
