Description | An announcement is made that merchants are arriving, instead, I get a single tile that consists of everything the merchants were carrying when I investigate. To find tile, look under units screen for "Stray Yak Bull(Caged)" it should be both the first item on the list and the only animal owned by the "merchants. Merchants had operated correctly every year before this.
