Summary0010136: Ambush crashes game w/ companions
DescriptionStarted as elf adventurer in a solitary forest retreat that had not apparently been conquered by goblins (there were other elven civs, just not nearby, and lots of "forest retreats" that did not show up as part of any playable civ, so I must assume it was the goblins next door)

Noticed gray star on travel map and moved to intercept. Ambush! Luckily, it was elves. With wooden weapons. My companions immediately engaged, without any prompting. I stayed back.

Partway through the fight the game crashed.

I think "That's weird" and restart the game, making sure to save before I go anywhere.

It happens again.

I restart my computer. This time, I just head straight across the river and wait until they show up. AMBUSH! the elves just stand there. I try fast traveling away, they pursue, but won't attack, even when I am right next to them.

Next time I will just go very quickly in the OPPOSITE direction.
Steps To ReproduceFind a world where goblins have taken over most of an elven civ. Start as an adventurer in the remnant. Wait for raiding party.

In a shaping tree just to the west, there is a "human overlord". Not sure what exactly that means, given that that title generally refers to a bandit leader.

When I tested your save, you had no companions and the game did not crash. However, when I attacked the elves they shot me with X and XX wooden arrows. It's likely that the crash you experienced is another manifestation of the wear-destruction bug (0009920, 0010060, etc.). Confirmation may be available in your gamelog.txt file if you would like to review it, or you could upload it to DFFD for someone else to take a look.

Presumably fixed in v0.44.02 by the fix for 0009888.
