You can upload your zipped save folder (game folder / data / save / region1 or so) to http://dffd.bay12games.com/ and post a link to it here (copy full address). It would be best if you can supply save of fort state just before it crashes.

If you want to attach images (screenshots), upload them to something like http://imgur.com/ and again post a link here.

Well, "Inactive" is the default name of your starting alerts (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Military_interface#Alerts). Weird.

Do you have any pre-crash saves? Are you sure you haven't been building any constructions near trees so this is not caused by 0008719, "Building constructions over parts of trees crashes" again? That's a known issue.

I don't have any pre-crash saves, only the world (which has never been played in) and i was only digging down, no constructions

I have no idea why it said he was destroying a building

Your start with a Wagon. That's a building. With [q-x] you may order it to be deconstructed.

I don't see a wagon mentioned anywhere in this report. Also, I assume "Inactive" is the (a?) name DF falls back to if it's unable to retrieve a unit's name (it's much less likely that it's displaying an alert name instead of a unit name).

@wagon: There are only seven dwarves and Carsten said xe was "just digging down". So I guessed in that time there was only one building (unless it was a reclaim type of embark), the starting wagon.

@inactive: There is another place that uses "Inactive" and I think that is more probable than it being "default unit name": jobs screen. I now think that screenshot somehow shows state of job instead of the name of assigned dwarf.

the wagon was intact at the time of the crash

Extra facts if its important in anyway: 1. I had default starting build (what you bring with wagon) 2. I had no military 3. i might if ordered the wagon to be deconstructed but i doubt it 4. i had some workshops made 5. i had a river (stream) 6.i haven't breached the caverns yet

I had this happen while checking another save. I noticed their name was replace by "inactive" and their job was either "destroy building" or became that when I tried to [c]ancel their active job. I'll try to find that save and reproduce it.

EDIT: Per 0008816:0032258, the destroy jobs were player designated and not part of the cancel bug.

Okay, I found it. The save from 0008816 has a couple of people with "Destroy Building" jobs in the [u]nit screen (both are to destroy microcline roads). [c]ancelling the job replaces their name with "inactive". See Zasit Coglogem and Dumed Urrithablel. It is only on the units list during that viewing session, and [v]iewing the individual displays their name correctly. Exiting the units screen and reentering it returns the display to normal. This save was viewed in 40.23 and 40.24 sdl. This particular save was generated in 40.23.

The crash may be platform specific or related to something else. I couldn't get it to reproduce.

in the image it says that the fish cleaner was cleaning fish, so that means that i made a fishery, maybe i tried to deconstruct it so i could rebuild it underground?
