Summary | 0010217: Site conquering during world update causes reclaim shenanigans and elves being weird
Description | I generated a world and went to find a fort to reclaim. At the bottom of the list was Pulledpillar, a fort listed as having been conquered and taken over, instead of the usual destroyed by megabeast. I reclaim it, get there, and things look normal. So I send my dwarves in. I find a population of 200+ under Other, all listed as Hostile. They were hanging out in the usual places populations hang out in when you visit forts in adventure mode. None of them attacked, even when my dwarves killed one of them in the crowded tavern. Said tavern was attracting visitors from the moment I started. The civ screen listed both my civ The Glad Syrup and the goblin civ The Muscular Fiend. They are not listed as at war. I retired the fort and then loaded it back up. All of the previous 'Other' who were listed as hostile are now listed and function as normal citizens. All of them are citizens of my dwarven civ and site group, with no other loyalties listed. The only civ listed on the civ screen is mine. All of them have very few skills and are very low in level in said skills. They had no relations with each other until time started passing. There is one child under Other and still listed as Hostile. He is the only child in the place. By looking at Legends, I think I know what happened. The site history looks like this: Pulledpillar was founded by dwarven civ The Shield of Persuaders in 108. In early spring 250 the elven civ The Moth of Fields attacked and conquered the place. The dwarven civ The Glad Syrup, me, then reclaimed Pullerpillar in in early spring 250. There's no mention of The Moth of Fields ever leaving the place. The name of the government installed by the elves was The Ivy of Appearances, now listed as a bandit group, and launched an expedition in early spring to reclaim Ruthlessmined, a cave. There is no evidence of this government in fort mode whatsoever. I exported the legends using Dfhack and viewed it in Legends Viewer to get some specific dates. The elves attacked on the 6th of Granite, aka when the world was being updated. My expedition was then launched on the 15th. In the exported files, the elves are listed as having abandoned Pulledpillar in 249, even though that isn't present in Legends Mode. I was able to start an elven adventurer out of Ruthlessmined. She spawned outside the cave itself. I found no one in the cave or the surrounding area.
Steps To Reproduce | Given the random nature of world updating, this requires sheer dumb luck to make it happen.
Additional Information | I've uploaded two saves: before I retired the fort, and after I unretired it. dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=12875
