Summary | 0010504: Scrolling Issues
Description | It seems that whenever I try to scroll past a certain point the game acts as if I've hit an invisible edge. This is quite irritating due to the fact that I can't go farther into a mountain to dig out a fortress, look at the environment beyond that point, etc. It's very similar to this issue: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=45632.0
Steps To Reproduce | It happens whenever I start a new game.
Tags | No tags attached. | ||||

Note: I am using the latest version of the lazy newb pack |
Does this problem occur in a vanilla game, or only when LNP/DFHack is included? |
It seems to happen in the vanilla game as well, though the two are different versions with the vanilla one I have being the latest one while the DFHack one is the one listed in the original issue. |
Please upload a vanilla save where this problem is occurring to DFFD ( http://dffd.bay12games.com/ ) and post a link in this report. |
What's the name of the file I upload? |
Compress the (DF-directory)/data/save/region* folder and upload the resulting zip/7z file. |

Your save seems to scroll correctly for me. Are you judging how far you should be able to scroll by the yellow 'X' in the minimap? That indicates the center of your main view; you can get the 'X' closer to the edge of the minimap by shrinking the size of the DF window, but you won't see any additional tiles in the central view pane. |
I was judging it by that and the fact that I can only go so far on the map so say for instance I wanted to build farther into a mountain it wouldn't let me. I actually had to scrap the first save I made because I had built the fortress inside of a mountain and after I had saved and gone back to it after a while it wouldn't let me scroll over to the fortress I had built. Is it normal to hit like an invisible wall or barrier and not be able to go farther in terms of scrolling, and if so how do I go farther than that? |
No, any tile you've ever viewed should remain accessible. Do you have a save where you've built a fortress but cannot scroll to view all of it? |
No I don't have the save anymore unfortunately. Would you like anything from me that could clarify the issue I'm having? Like I said it's very very similar to the issue that person in the post I linked was having.I have some screenshots that might help. |
Unfortunately, the issue you linked to is about 9 years old. You'd almost certainly need a save from the current version of dwarf fortress which shows this happening before anyone can look into it. |
Yeah that's true. I didn't think about that. I'll just link the screen shots I have and you can tell me if what I'm experiencing is normal. http://tinypic.com/r/35c4bra/9 http://tinypic.com/r/10z5myq/9 http://tinypic.com/r/296ew3r/9 http://tinypic.com/r/14103ec/9 http://tinypic.com/r/2eati4g/9 |
It looks like you're using TWBT, which is a DFHack plugin. Does the issue occur without that? |
