Summary | 0010516: Hunters kill captured wild animals in pastures marked for training
Description | I tried to bring a moose to a pasture in my fort to have my animal trainers tame them. I forgot about the moose, and later went back to check on it when I see my potter (who has the hunting labor enabled) shooting at the moose and killing it. I also set it to be trained, yet this did not stop the hunter.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Capture wild animal with cage trap 2. Pasture wild animal (optionally near hunter or in fortress) 3. Wait for the hunter to show up and attack them Setting the animal to be trained is optional
Additional Information | I'm not sure if this is an intended feature or not. I figured that it wasn't, since it makes taming animals harder than it should normally be.

The "initial training" needs to occur while the wild animal is in a cage. Once the initial training is complete, the animal will be a "stray" member of your civilization, eligible for further training in a training zone/pasture and ineligible for hunting. Ordering a wild animal taken to a pasture before the initial training effectively frees it, preventing any training and making it "fair game" for hunting. |
