Summary | 0010538: Military with a raid mission stuck on tree destroy fps
Description | As the consolidated tree problem report is now closed as Toady thought he had fixed it in 44.01 http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9252 I have to post this as a new report, because in 44.05 it happened again sadly. But this time the condition are more specific. This time i had a squad i was sending in a raid mission, while the squad members were moving toward the map edges, several capybaras spawned there and obviously fight happened. And one of the dwarves of the squad climbed on a tree immediately, probably to follow and kill a capybaras that was running away by that tree. This soldier was then unable to climb down to resume his path toward the map edge. And so as it happened in the past when dwarves under a mood were stuck on tree the fps completely died. Sadly i didn't had the reflex to keep the save as i reverted to an older back up of that fort without thinking about bug reporting first.

"This soldier was then unable to climb down to resume his path toward the map edge." ~ Have you tried to command him down or cancel the raid? Or even cut the tree under him? Or did you just wait a bit and then reloaded older save because of single digit fps? |

I had the same thing happen when a squadmember was stuck in a one tile deep trench. FPS was down to 7 from 100. Building a path immediatly fixed the lag. But the dwarves ended up in trench all the time and would climb out as soon as they become hungry/thirsty without lag |

I waited enough to notice the soldiers weren't climbing back at all. Didn't tried to cut the tree or build a stair for him as at that kind of 1 fps nothing was going to get done before dozen of minutes as it was on the other side of the map, and as my older backup save wasn't from that far away i didn't had the patience to wait that long. I had tried to save and reload but unfortunately this didn't impacted the situation, i even tried to temporarly retire the fortress and reclaim but the soldier was still not climbing down and still was destroying the framerate. I couldn't cancel the mission as i tried, as at that point the mission couldn't be cancelled anymore unfortunately. |
