Summary | 0001066: Clean-shaven hairstyle gets selected too often
Description | Female dwarves' hair is often clean shaven. Seems odd. Male dwarves also have clean shaven heads most of the time. Though it's probably more appropriate then for females, they rarely seem to have any hair.
Steps To Reproduce | Any dwarf on embark.
Tags | bald, Intentional/Expected?

Since hair is randomly generated, what makes you think this a bug rather than just an absolutely terrible roll of the dice? |
There is currently no gender differentiation in hairstyles, although females lack beards. So yeah, what Logical2u said. |
It's not a terrible roll because females are bald 80% of the time it seems. Unless it's some dwarven custom, you'd think it would be 0%. |
Can anyone provide evidence that the bald hairstyle is selected to a disproportionate degree? |
I've counted it - it's slightly below 50 % in my fortress. |
Is that 50% across both males and females? How many dwarves were there? |
Umm...hair growth is in, right?...and grooming of tissue layers?...are they cutting their hair down to nubs? It seems a huge portion of my 3 year fort has long hair. Fun with numbers (by sex, for the LENGTH modifier): BOTH SEXES, 62 TOTAL 20.97% Clean Shaven 6.45% Very Short 6.45% Short 11.29% Medium-Length 4.84% Long 48.39% Very Long 1.61% Extremely Long MALES, 32 TOTAL 21.88% Clean Shaven 3.13% Very Short 6.25% Short 15.63% Medium-Length 6.25% Long 46.88% Very Long 0.00% Extremely Long FEMALES, 30 TOTAL 20.00% Clean Shaven 10.00% Very Short 6.67% Short 6.67% Medium-Length 3.33% Long 50.00% Very Long 3.33% Extremely Long |
Has the numbers for this changed? Of my seven guinea pigs ( 4 male and 3 Female ) 3 Males have Clean-Shaven Sideburns, 2 Males have Clean-Shaven Hair and 1 Female has Clean-Shaven Hair. Can Anyone with a higher pop-count get better info? Will probably have to have Toady decide what the appropriate lengths should be. |
I don't know if this also takes into account what's common in the culture. |
