Summary | 0010927: Gates and doors/hatch connected to levers deconstruct when in contact with magma, even though all magma-safe
Description | I have been using a method for hauling magma to the surface that involves dumping minecarts down a shaft onto the following scheme: z = +1 z=0 z=-1 MMMM ###M #MMM #g# #g# #W# ### ### wh# dG# #H# ### ### ### Wheres as M=magma, gg = raising bridge (raises south), W=wall grate, h=channeled open space, w=built wall, d=door, G=floor grate and H = floor hatch. On z=-2 I simply dig up a room large enough to have 1/7 magma spread out for evaporation. This system avoids having to wait for magma evaporation when hauling magma filled minecarts. However, I have been experiencing the gate and the hatch getting deconstructed when in contact with magma, even though all mechanisms and materials used are magma-safe. I have a hunch on what is causing this: levers/mechanisms and buildings using different materials. It seems the only times this hasn't happened was when the levers and the mechanisms were made of the same magma-safe materials. However, building materials could also be at fault here. Also, a pretty minor bug, maybe not, could already have been reported: when the minecarts get dumped, only one of them stays on top of the floor grate. The others stack on z=+1 for some reason and keep a TSK flag on them.
Steps To Reproduce | Replicate the method, use different magma-safe materials for the constructions that will be linked to levers, the mechanisms and the levers themselves. Watch as they magically deconstruct when magma touches them.

Please upload a save demonstrating this problem to DFFD ( http://dffd.bay12games.com/ ) and post a link to it here. |

It's known that falling minecarts stack on top of the bottom most one. At a guess, it's intentional so that you can move them away one at a time using rollers, knocking them away with another minecart, etc. |
|
It also happened to me. I built a gabbro bridge connected to a lever to block the magma flow, but after few ticks it was destroyed. I thought it was due to the mechanism inside (can't remember if it was or not magma-safe) |
|
So, I have not been able to replicate the bug reported, but I have one on kind of the same vein under a very similar situation: I'm using the same mechanics for hauling magma minecarts, it has worked for dozens of games. All of a sudden, on the last 3 or 4 games in a row, I get item inaccessibility message where the minecarts and other items are (bottom of the magma chute) I'm uploading the game, feel free to change the title of the bug. |

http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=14087 The uploaded save has no floor grate--it was presumably destroyed, causing your dwarves to cancel jobs when items previously on it became inaccessible. There is also magma in one of the minecarts that turns into obsidian when unpaused, so some temperature shenanigans are involved. What mods are you using? |
