Summary | 0010993: Walking into some areas while fast travelling and playing fullscreen crashes the game.
Description | Walking into some areas while fast travelling or entering fast travel after walking into them normally crashes the game. The crash also only happens if the window/map width is around 1000 pixels/123 tiles or more, this includes f11 fullscreen. Walking into the area with a lower window width and then widening it also crashes the game. Playing around with width close to the limit produces some sort of changes in the area or something, I'm not sure. To reproduce reliably, use widths considerably larger than the estimated limit. Also, the game doesn't crash if you're in local (hamlet etc.) fast travel, even if you're in the crash zone. Naturally, it crashes once you exit local fast travel.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Use the provided save. 2. Fast travel south to reach the area specified on the provided map. 3. Stretch the window/map to be more than 1000 pixels/123 tiles. Or just press f11. 4. Go into the specified area. 5. ??? 6. CTD

Were you by any chance in those crashing areas trading items with locals? |
|
Nope, I don't recall that happening. I did trade and exchange outside the area not too long before that happened, but I doubt that's the reason. Prior to the crash that prompted me to look into it and report the bug I crashed during fast travel because of this bug as well, I'm assuming. That was in the same world and general area, but I crashed without saving once since starting, so it was a kinda different and isolated case. Point is, I don't think I traded or exchanged items once in that save. |

Update. I've returned to the same general area after some adventuring. And I'm crashing during fast travel again. This time using smaller window size only works if you kept it untouched all the way since launching the game... Or not... It's not working consistently and is crashing pretty much all the time. And it's apparently the continuation of the same area: https://i.imgur.com/Uvyc3Xg.png |

Locals get randomly moved around in settlement, when it re-arranges. They also leave their mounds for walks. Their inventory is fixed by the same automatic process, which rolls terrain before you. Re-rolled items lose their quality and if their pouches get loaded with master quality rings, then they get 2nd pouch with new coins. Some clothing doublets and non-civilization native weapons are getting them bugged, so land re-rolling process instead of recreating them, just crashes entire game. The only solution is to go back to an earlier hand-made save and undo fatal trade. So long I found it is safe to trade master quality bone rings (there are value 2x-5x for predator bones) and cloth&armor, which does not conflict with already worn cloths (mittens, caps, shoes have to be removed to trade high boots, helmets and gauntlets). Also with humans, local currency goes fine too. |
