Summary | 0011001: "Stasost Snamozarosp, Goblin Dancer and others have returned.", but have never been at the fortress
Description | The message in the summary was received, and I looked at it. Both the goblin and an elf are marked as "Friendly", and a check with the latest Legends Mode export, 10 months earlier, indicates neither of them have visited the fortress before. However, both of them belong to the performance troupe "The Infallible Esteem", and I have accepted a petition from that group (two members of the troupe became residents. They were nicknamed as "The Infallable Esteem" using DFHack when they entered the map (I've done that to all performance troupe announcements to try to keep some kind of track of them, should they petition).
Additional Information | It seems reasonable to assume being members of a troupe that's been accepted as residents is what has landed these troupe members into limbo when they visited the fortress, and a further guess is that they would have been announced as the troupe rather than individual characters (I've noted a previous case of a performance troupe member returning under its own name, rather than as part of the troupe. Obviously, that troupe wasn't accepted as residents, either because it didn't petition, or because it was rejected). The save has been created from a PSV world, and a DFHack script has been used during world gen to change all glaciers to hostile, a plain region to neutral, and all surface biomes to contain all legal plants and animals. Banana tree raws have been changed to yield wood (or bananas won't show up), gremlins have been doubled in size (to allow them to be given kobold clothes to avoid them going bonkers before they become citizens and thus are able to make clothes of their own size). Apart from that, siege triggers of civs and (semi)megabeasts have been lowered, dwarf max civ count lowered, and elf site pop increased (in the hope of them producing visitors to my fortress). Goblin raws were changed to make them start on glaciers only (to get blizzard men and to start only at desired locations, rather than wiping out the humans). The LNP r1 has been used, with DFHack enabled (which has performance tweaks enabled). A number of DFHack scripts have been used to assist in plant gathering, plant growing (enabling/disabling plants to plots), brewing, and booze cooking, plus a liberal dose of nick naming visitors. Three raids have been conducted, plus a site conquest, and one of the conquerors (the squad leader) has been requested back from the site and returned successfully (once the messenger was relieved of all hauling duties, which appeared to be more important than delivering messages). The save has been uploaded to DFFD: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=14190

It turned out I'd forgotten to save the game with the "returning" visitors, so the save posted is from before their arrival. I'm replaying from that point, but the visitors have not appeared, so it doesn't seem to repeat reliably. |

Same occurance it sounds like with 0010966 with my resident being send to a economic site then returning while in a residency, but with members of the troupe not travelling together. Which in itself is a resurgance/deviation of 0010517 They will randomly come back anything between 1 to 3 years after leaving, if ever from my experience, the variable results with travel was the same for me, as I also had savegames of that session prior where they didn't turn up yet compared to the saves which were took on arrival at a set date. |
|
The buggers returned later in my replay of the game I failed to save, but here they are: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=14193. I've moved the save to LNP r05, but that's probably not important. Also, I forgot to mention that I've hacked the embark to get 9 biomes just prior to embark. Edit: It happened again, when about 5 members of another performance troupe from which I had accepted a few members showed up (I verified all of them were members of that troupe). I haven't bothered to provide a new save, as I don't expect one to add anything to what's available in the posted (non botched) save. |

Happened to me also. Only once I got an announcement "[name], Goblin Poet have returned.". After few in-game days, there were a bunch of people. They just stand on the edge of the map. I can't see their skills, they are marked as "Friendly", have nothing in their inventory but few books and an artifact maul. |
