Platform | MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) | OS | macOS Mojave | OS Version | 10.14.3 (18D109) |
Product Version | 0.44.06
Summary | 0011034: App wide keyboard lag in large windows
Description | The lag is approximately ~200ms. For example, pressing `Esc` during the opening trailer quit to the main menu for ~200ms. At the main menu, also for example, the same lag happens when changing Create New World!, Design New World with Advanced Parameters.
Steps To Reproduce | I have downgraded to version 0.44.05 and that fixes it. All version beyond (including the latest 0.44.12 are also broken).

Upon further investigation, it's not a bug. It's a scaling issue. I was scaling the window larger, and perhaps the person from stackexchange was as well. Once I kept the windows about the same size, the issue went away. |
To be clear, there is keyboard lag, but it is only present when I stretch or maximize the game beyond startup size. Apologies if there is already an issue present for this. |
I get this as well on OS X version 10.14.5 |
Got the same problem, at OS X 10.14.16, DF version 0.44.12 |
What happens if you change your PRINT_MODE setting in init.txt to STANDARD? |
Changing the PRINT_MODE to FRAME_BUFFER worked for me. OS X 10.15 DF version 0.47.01 The file to make this change is ./data/init/init.txt |
Can confirm. After double-clicking on the df executable, I expanded the window size instinctively and noticed pretty quickly that the CPU shot up to 100+%, fans were going crazy, and there was a very noticeable lag after each keystroke in the menu. I didn't even start up the game because I figured there would be an issue there too. The fix by Pixel-Axe worked great — after updating the PRINT_MODE setting, CPU for df is now 4% and there's no noticeable keyboard lag. I just downloaded 0.47.04. I am using macOS 10.14.6. |
