Summary | 0011083: Game hangs when I forbid door to jail room with 2 chained vampires (1 my mayor)
Description | This is a situation with a lot of moving parts to it and I'm not sure what the exact issue is. I do have a save of it up at dffd. So I have a jail room with four chains in it assigned to Justice. Two of those chains are restraining vampires: one that's been there several months, and one I've just recently arrested (who also happens to be my current mayor, who also is currently part of one of my military squads, who also has a pet War Gorilla.) For some reason they were both assigned to chain sentences rather than hammering, and I want to get rid of them, so I set up a bunch of animal cages in the jail with the idea of forbidding the door and then releasing the beasts on them. (I realize that the beasts I have on hand may not be sufficient to the task of killing two vampires, but I wanted to make a go of it regardless.) But as soon as I forbid the door, the game becomes unresponsive. If I do it with the game paused and step forward with ".", it seems to hang after 2 or 3 ticks. These are the things I've tried separately before forbidding the door: Un-rooming the two unusued chains. Un-rooming all four chains. Removing the mayor from her military squad. Making sure the pet War Gorilla is outside the jail room. Making sure the pet War Gorilla is *inside* the jail room. In all these cases the game hangs pretty much immediately on forbidding the door. Another thing that's going on is that it's winter and my fortress liaison is still hanging around without ever having attempted to meet with my mayor (who I arrested in late autumn, so there was plenty of opportunity). The previous year's liaison died drunk in my tavern, after the meeting. Not sure if or how those are related. The first chained vampire is stuck with an Attend Meeting job, but she was never a noble at all, so I don't know what that's about.

I swear I searched issues for "forbid door" before I posted this, and didn't get any results, but now I try it again and I get a lot of them, including http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=10575 |

I ran the game forward until the first vampire's sentence expired in the 11-month and she left the jail. At that point, though, there was a visitor poet having a meeting there with the mayor, and it wasn't clear if they were ever going to finish or leave. I was able at that point to forbid the jail door, with the mayor and the poet inside, without a hang. |
