Summary0011086: Pathing or mine problem between level 17 and 18
DescriptionDwarfs unable to go from level 17 to level 18, below or back.

Initial stairway down stopped at 18. Designated digging down past that appeared odd and was not dug out. Initial mining designation on 18 stopped part way through and the dwarfs would never return to level 18.

Later attempt at ramping down multiple times resulted in ramps down to 18 being created but dwarfs unable to path there.

A final attempt to ramp down resulted in a dwarf stepping out onto 18, but then unable to return up any of the stairs or ramps. Attempts to make stairs up result in up stair on 18 but no down stair on 17.

You have no usable access to level 8. Your initial stairway ends in an "up stair" on level 7, when an up/down stair is necessary to connect to the level below. You then added some ramps which were temporarily usable until your dwarves dug out the walls around them. You've also got two downstairs stacked on levels 8 and 9 and two upstairs stacked on 8 and 7; neither configuration is usable. Constructing an up/down stair in place of the up stair on level 7 allowed your dwarves to access level 8.

In general, I'd recommend digging up/down stairs exclusively--they "just work" in almost all situations.
