Over time this got worse. Save compression fixed it. Then it stopped autosaving again. Manually saving still worked, for a while. Then eventually it got to the point where I could save before the 16th of Sandstone, but not after. The issue turned out to be a corrupted unit dat. Removing that one file (Unit-548) fixed the issues entirely, and I've been playing fine ever since, without a single crash. Here is the final save, along with the unit. Combine the two and it will crash, without it, it won't. Problems could possibly be related to merchants leaving, or an impending migrant wave.
