Summary0001217: Dwarves refuse to dig.
DescriptionMy miner dwarves, who I've deleted all the jobs except mining, refuse to dig.

I have access to a pick, designation, et cetera.
Sometimes they dig, sometimes they don't. They just stand around with no job.

It seems when I designate a couple of gem or ore tiles to be dug out, they do get dug out, but my dwarves refuse to mine plain rock.

Do they equip the picks?
The picks may have been assigned to some military dwarves so that miners can't grab them.

I have no military.

They have dug in the past.

When I assign some ore to be dug out, they hop to it, but when it's just exploratory mining they don't do a thing.

You should update to the current version, 31.03, which contains major pathfinding fixes. Get it here: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=54115.0

Let us know if that fixes it.
