Summary | 0012767: Ability to throw breaks after firing crossbow
Description | Made my first adventurer and noticed that throwing a rock, or a beetle, or anything instead showed a crossbow bolt being fired, and indeed using one of said bolts from my inventory as well. This occurred regardless of whether my crossbow was in-hand, stowed, or dropped entirely. More bolts were fired instead of the desired item being thrown even after I had run out of bolts in my inventory. Reloading this save and trying to throw again caused a crash. I made another adventurer to test things, and found that throwing worked normally as long as I had not fired using my crossbow before. After using the crossbow, any attempts to throw an item would use a crossbow bolt instead, again regardless of the state of the crossbow itself. Doubt it is related to the race of the adventurer, but I tried it with a goblin and a dwarf and both times the result was the same.

I've now also been able to reproduce this bug with bow and arrows, not just crossbow and bolts. |

Related to this, I've also found that if you have another party member with no crossbow or bolts in their inventory throw something, they will throw a bolt instead. The bolt will be removed from the crossbow wielding member's inventory as well. |

I have experienced this bug as well. It seems to occur once you have fired a bolt/arrow from a crossbow/bow. Attempting to throw something afterwards instead causes you to "throw" (pretty sure it's still firing from the bow/crossbow and raising the associated skill) the last bolt/arrow you fired. You can continue to throw the last bolt/arrow you fired regardless of having run out of ammunition, somewhat infinitely at least in relation to your current target(s). I say somewhat infinitely because I found that once I had killed my targets and started a new fight, I was instead throwing a non-descript "item" with what appeared to be some placeholder image coloured turquoise and in the shape of a cube. It caused blunt damage instead of piercing like the bolts/arrows. Reloading the game to a point prior to when you fired any bolts/arrows and attempting to throw something before you do causes a game crash. Closing out the game entirely and then reloading a save in which you've already fired a bolt/arrow will allow throwing normally, at least until a bolt/arrow is fired again. |

It's also worth noting that "throwing" in this way doesn't train the throwing skill, whether the thing being thrown is a bolt or a "spinning item" |
