| Summary | 0012909: Guards prefer beating people to death rather than using the ready and empty dungeon. | ||||
| Description | Every time I set a dwarf to be punished there is a chance that one of the guards will decide he's had a bad day and will beat the dwarf to death rather than upholding justice. I've had this happen with dwarves I convict, particularly if their crime was violent. I would change the guard to weaker dwarves with less deadly hammers but that isn't an option. I've tried assigning a weak hammer to the hammerer through the nobles screen and he doesn't pick it up. There are 24 out of 15 needed restraints and cages in my dungeon. I feel like beatings should be less severe in the game because while bashing a murderer on the head 20 times with a *silver war hammer* might be satisfying it's a far cry from real justice. | ||||

Assigning a hammer to the hammerer did work this time, someone luckily turned a useless dwarf into a useful bone hammer. |

Any Hammerstrike sentence will be downgraded to a Beating if there are no justice Chains. Any Prison sentence will be downgraded to a Beating if there are no justice Chains or Cages. If you don't have a Hammerer at all, it shouldn't even choose Hammerstrikes in the first place - it should just pick Prison or a Beating instead. |
