Summary0001293: Eating not working properly for adventurers without a grasp tag (Might be intended as adventurers usually have the grasp tag)
DescriptionAs a quick sidenote, drinking works as it should, regardless of species.

In messing around in the arena, I've noticed that creatures without the grasp tag, that is, having no available grasp when you try and pick up something, can't pick up something to eat it. I've tested with a bunch of critters (didn't test with all of them, but enough to get a conclusion) and a pile of drowned whales which were butchered (to rule out contaminant issues) and tried to get critters to eat the stuff. I've found that despite the food being right there, critters like wolves and most animals can't eat the stuff.

Vomit is still eatable though, sometimes.

It seems a little silly that animals like wolves need the grasper tag in order to eat since they don't in real life, unless you count the mouth as a grasper. Probably trivial gamewise since animals don't need to eat or drink currently and most adventurers would have the grasp tag anyway. Also kind of trivial in the arena.
Steps To ReproduceEither set up some animal as an adventurer in adventure mode or go to Arena mode.

In Arena mode, create some easily killable creature(s) and kill them however you want, then create a bunch of other critters and make them on the same team so they don't annhilate each other, possess one of them, try to eat the food.
Additional InformationWhile pretty much a non-issue now, it will become an issue when creatures need to eat.

Also, those that have wings can apparently wrestle with them (including drone ant men, whose wings would be inflexible), but can't actually grasp with them.

Whether the wrestling with wings thing is a bug or not, no idea.

You can wrestle with basically any appendage; that's a larger problem with wrestling.

Most wings ingame (excepting possible forgotten beasts/titans) are either batlike or birdlike, so grasping with wings isn't too unrealistic. I don't know if the drone ant man has rigid insect wings or not, but hey, its not that big a deal for me as far as wings go, just thought it was strange.

I believe it is currently necessary to be able to wrestle with any body part because any body part can be grasped by another wrestler. I had a forgotten beast go on a rampage, and every time he attack someone he would should them with his frozen lizard extract and then grab them by their left 5th toe, and punch them to death slowly. Left 5th toe every time. Including the time when he was attacking an infant.

Could someone close this as it really seems to be intentional and not a bug since you need the grasp tag to do anything useful and fun in adventure mode anyway.

Until creatures without a grasp tag need to eat (outside of controlling them in adventure mode), this is a non-issue.

Sure, sounds reasonable.
