Summary | 0012934: Worker completing "Carve Fortification" task removes all wall "Engrave" designations
Description | Once a worker finishes a "Carve Fortification" task on a smoothed natural rock wall, all unrelated "Engrave" designations on both natural and constructed walls vanish. It affects them across all z-levels. This does not affect engraving designations for floors, and also doesn't remove any already-completed engravings, smoothing designations of any variety, or channeling designations - just the wall engraving designations. It is more than just a visual bug, because a worker will not attempt to engrave the wall once the designation disappears. The wall can designated to be engraved again without issue, but if a natural fortification is carved before the wall is engraved then it will vanish again. When the designation disappears, no error or informational message is prompted.
Steps To Reproduce | Have workers smooth two natural wall tiles that are not adjacent. Designate one of the smoothed walls to be engraved and the other to be a fortification. Ensure that the engraving task will not happen before the fortification task (eg. making the engraver labor only doable by specified workers, then not assigning any workers) Once the fortification is carved, see the engraving designation disappear without user intervention or error message.
Additional Information | My fortress is old (60+ years since embark) but is not on a super-large or super-small map. The biome is half-ocean, but the fortifications I carved to test with were not adjacent to the ocean. They were on the edge of the map, however. I have not made any major modifications to any files, or have any mods installed. I only changed "hooves" items to be considered as "shells" for the sake of artifact creation. While I am playing on Linux, it is via steam play with Proton Experimental (I downloaded the game upon the steam release). It is my understanding that is emulating a windows-like environment. I do not remember this happening on the previous (free) pre-steam windows versions I have played in the past, but I no longer have access to those files to confirm. I do believe this is not a new issue introduced in the most recent patch due to having engraving designations randomly disappear in the months leading up to this, but only realized what was causing it now.
