| Summary | 0013034: Announcement settings reverting to default | ||||
| Description | Whenever I change any announcement setting from the settings in-game settings menu, they revert back to default every time I load the game. It doesn't matter if I'm in play or I do it from the title screen. The only way to fix it is by manually editing the init announcements file. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Open the game, change any announcement setting (i.e.: civilian becomes soldier) to "No" on all. Press "done". Exit the game and run the game again. The setting will be back to the default Adv and Fort "Yes". | ||||
| Additional Information | So far, I have tried this with many announcements: Civilian becomes soldier, soldier becomes civilian, masterwork cooked, masterwork engraved, and other minor announcements, and they all go back to their default. | ||||

Can confirm this bug is present in v52.02 (possibly since v52.01), with the conditions (and workaround) being exactly as the original report states. I didn't have any issues saving changes in-game until then, so I am unsure if it was patched and then broke again, or if it only starts happening under specific conditions. |

This bug is still present as of 53.06 (Windows Steam version) Key insight: * if you modify announcements by accessing settings while a game is running, announcement changes do not get saved * but if you modify (some) announcements on the title screen / main menu screen, some of them get saved! I confirmed this multiple times including when exiting and restarting the program. But this does not work for ALL settings! For example, it saves "wild animal gives birth" just fine, but it won't save "Clear weather" or "Rain". Those keep reverting to their default values after I exit the game and start it up again. |
