... do you have a craftsdwarf workshop or masonry workshop built? |
Yes, I have both. Neither have any preferences set, although the craftsdwarf workshop was restricted to my legendary craftsdwarf at the time the mood was announced. He's currently sitting where my meeting place used to be as I moved it, hoping that may galvanize him... It didn't. |
Do you have any burrows that might be preventing him from using the shops? |
Upload a save to DFFD. I might take a look. |
No one was assigned to a burrow. I had one planned out for when I lock down, but he was never even assigned to it. Unfortunately, I don't have a save handy. It was pretty epic, though... The mason went berserk and fourteen (!) dogs attacked him. I had to draft my 7 fight-capable dwarves to finally take him down. He was strangled to death after he strangled two dogs to death. |
Just having a workshop "inside" (sitting on top of) a burrow might have been enough to cause weirdness. Generally, if you're experiencing a problem that would lead you to make a bug report, it's good to save the game ASAP and back it up for future reference. |
Will do. If it happens again, I'll save and make sure to provide it. Let's see if it happens next strange mood. |
I removed my burrow as I wasn't using it anymore. A dwarf was then possessed. He then proceeded to go and stand in the meeting area. I have stationed military by him as I remember what happened last time. ;P Uploaded save to DFFD. Be jealous at my Bauxite stores while you're looking. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2162 |

A while later and he's still just standing there. Its weird because I HAVE had a successful mood complete. My legendary stonecrafter made a stupid legendary mug. I had burrows defined then, as well. To be honest, I think this only happened after I found the first cavern. It seems that they go to the meeting zone I had defined then. I moved it and nothing happened. He's standing where it used to be, I think. |
... do you have all of the other workshops, most especially a regular glass furnace? |
I was trying to load that save but I don't think my PC has enough RAM. |
I do not have all of the workshops, but the first time it happened it was a mason. Masonry was his highest skill. It does not appear to be lack of a workshop, unless moods are bugged to where it just picks a random skill and not necessarily the dwarf's highest skill. As per the save, I use phoebius's graphic set so if you're having loading problems you may need that. :x its.a 9x9 embark so it shouldn't be too bad. I wanted to hold out til my next immigrant wave cuz I'm at 65 dwarves and don't have a mayor yet, which may be a bug but this recent mood dwarf may kill half my fort so I'm hoping 31.04 fixes it somehow... |

Correction, Phoebus 1.7.1 to be precise. Let me know what happens if any of you get it running. I'm going to try building random workshops I don't have yet to see if this is really just this dwarf trying to claim a workshop I don't have yet. If it is, then I'm fairly sure that artifacts are more bugged as any workshop he should be trying to claim I have built already. EDIT: I am going back in time to see what went on with my mason. I have a theory that he, while being more skilled in masonry, may have came (he was an immigrant, so is this new one, who is a hunter) with a skill that is not masonry and it may have picked that skill at random. If that happened, then it could be a case of just not having the exact workshop he wanted. He had skill in armorsmithing and my hunter has skill in metalworking. Let's see what's up. |
So this time another dwarf mooded. My butcher claimed a carpenter's shop. He's apparently a talented carpenter! I've retitled him to reflect this. I think this is a case of me being an idiot, but keep a look out just in case it's one of those random-ass bugs that happened to coincide with this situation. |

Okay, I'm closing this one for now since there's no clear information and no leads. Feel free to reopen this issue (or post a new one) if it shows up again. |
