| Summary | 0013416: Caravans are blocked by shallow pools of water on the ground. |
|---|
| Description | When a caravan arrives on my fortress map and attempts to path from the map edge to my Trade Depot, if its route passes over a water pool, it frequently fails to reroute around it. Instead, the entire caravan gets stuck in an identical, repeating pattern: the dwarf leading the loaded pack animal steps into the water tile, while the animal itself remains on dry land. They remain locked in this state indefinitely. The stalemate only resolves when the caravan's scheduled departure time arrives. At that moment, the stuck dwarf regains the ability to move through water and proceeds to exit the map edge.

| Additional Information | I found that if the trade depot is built closer to the water pool, meaning if the person leading the animal gets stuck within about ten tiles or less of the trade depot, they are usually able to walk slowly through the water and cross it to reach the trade depot, rather than being stuck. I did not test the situation with wagons in the caravan; This bug occurred on separate occasions: with a caravan involving multiple dwarves leading groups of elephants, and with a caravan involving multiple elves leading groups of yak bulls. This bug occurs in the version 53.05 environment, in both my old save files and new save files started in version 53.05. Additionally, I encountered another bug: when part of the caravan got stuck by the water's edge and another part successfully reached the trade depot and placed items, when it was time for the caravan to leave the fortress, they would not take any action and remained in place. I did not reproduce or verify this specific situation. |
