Summary0013525: Summary / Title: Random crashes and FPS dropping to zero on SteamOS (Steam Deck)
DescriptionDescription:
Hello! I would like to kindly report a recurring issue I am experiencing specifically when using the Linux compatibility mode on the Steam Deck.

The game is closing unexpectedly during normal gameplay. While the game previously ran very smoothly for me, I am currently experiencing frequent crashes in almost every playthrough. These crashes occur at unpredictable intervals; sometimes after just a few minutes, and other times it takes much longer.

A key symptom I have noticed is that the FPS drops to zero for no apparent reason right before the crash. Interestingly, this can even happen when the game is completely paused and I am simply navigating through the user interface, which suggests it might not be tied to heavy in-game simulation events.

Regarding save files: I can confirm that the exact same problem occurs with all brand-new worlds generated within the current version.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:
To help narrow down the issue, I have already tried the following steps:

Verified the integrity of game files through Steam.

Completely uninstalled the game, manually deleted all remaining game folders, and performed a clean reinstall from scratch.

Unfortunately, the issue persists despite the clean installation.

Steps To Reproduce
Launch Dwarf Fortress v53.15 on Steam Deck (running SteamOS 3.8.21), ensuring Linux compatibility mode is active.

Load any brand-new world generated in this version.

Play the game normally, or simply pause the game and navigate the UI.

Notice that, at completely random intervals, the FPS drops to zero without any apparent trigger, followed by a crash to the SteamOS menu.

Please note that I am also running DFHack version 53.15-r1, which is executing under the same Linux compatibility layer alongside the game.
