Summary0001641: Elf merchant not drowning in 7/7 water with grate overhead
DescriptionSave game: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2271, under the right most floor grates in the moat around the trade depot.

When a bunch of goblins ambushed my full trade depot, an Elf merchant somehow got into the moat (7/7 water), and under my retractable floor grates. She doesn't have any wounds or whatever, but doesn't drown either.

The grate overhead might be the issue. Swimming creatures can probably breathe through it.

She also didn't show up with a blue background in the creature list.

The odd thing is that I wanted to test your theory about the grate, but she's now lying very dead two tiles further. I'm very certain that she remained in the water for a couple of save/load cycles.

Merchants tend to die of thirst pretty quickly if forced to remain on the map. I had a similar sequence of events back in 40d or 38c or something, where I dumped merchants into a high-walled moat. They swam there happily in 7/7 water for a while, and then abruptly dropped dead.
