I think you can make raw adamantine items - it's treated as an ore stone, so you'd just have to convince a mason to use it instead of some other stone, wouldn't you?
To make adamantine bars you need to first extract its strands, then smelt the strands. |

Does this report differ substantially from 0001817? |
Bit more detail in the description in this one, but it seems about the same. Worth making a note about the studding thing in the other thread if this one is closed I think. |
Just turn off the reservations for raw adamantine in the stones menu (z -> stones -> Raw adamantine) then any mason can work with it as normal rock? |
I personally think 0001817 is more about "all of my mandates are the same and of things that I haven't seen yet" whereas this one doesn't seem much like a bug, since I think there is a way to make raw adamantine items. |

The new cavern system kinda throws up in the air the idea of what we've "seen" though. Sure its visible somewhere on the map, but I for one do not relish searching the trillions of edges of the visible cavern system for a specific type of extremely rare gem, or whatnot. What's worse, I honestly have no idea what toady could do differently in that respect. How do you determine if an ore type has been "found" if not by whether or not its been revealed? There could be a check to see if any of it has been mined, I suppose... but that's _too_ easy. |
For mandates though, from a political/economic perspective, it makes sense for it to be based off of something that has been mined before, even if it asks for quantities that you cannot currently fulfill. |

I don't think this is a bug. You mayor likes raw adamantine. Kinda like asking for crystal glass items in a sand-less fort. |

This was caused by 0000823 (RAW_ADAMANTINE used METAL_TEMPLATE, so dwarves were permitted to like it as a metal rather than a stone, permitting nobles to mandate production of items made of it - nobles never mandate production of items made from specific stones), so it should be fixed for worlds generated in version 0.31.13 or later.

I would agree - I'm marking this as a child of 0000823 as it seems to have been the root cause and I haven't seen any duplicates or other posts related to this problem. If we get a confirmation, we can reopen this. |
