Summary | 0002164: Miners won't path back up a ramp they created by channeling, must use stairs
Description | Searching I found bug 0000341, which lead me to 0000018, which was marked resolved. I experienced this issue with 0.31.05. If I have a miner dig out a tunnel, then channel, then dig out more space on the Z level down, that miner will not return back up the ramp created by the channel. In fact, other dwarves on the original Z level will not go down the ramp. Once a stair was created (designated up stairs on lower Z level, and down stairs on upper Z level), the miner sprang into action and the other dwarves began going down.
Steps To Reproduce | Designate a channel Designate mining away from lower Z level portion of channel

By digging out the walls behind the ramps, you've probably rendered them unusable. _/# will work. _/_ will not. |

DarthCloakedDwarf is correct. See this article for more details: http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Ramp#Using_Ramps Does that explain what you observed? |
