Summary0002599: Mist appears indoors when tapping ocean for well
DescriptionIf you make a straight corridor off the ocean one z-level below ocean tides, and have an area dug out directly above the end of that corridor, you get mist in that dug out area. See this picture for details: http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/0b019d769082d38c99e3c4a10dd42f566g.jpg
Steps To Reproduce1. Drill a straight corridor underground, adjoining the area where waves are breaking on shore 1 z-level above. Door it off so you can flood the area.
2. Dig out a space directly above the end of this corridor.
3. flood the corridor by tapping the ocean, and wait. You should see mist in the dug-out area above the corridor.

If you don't understand that paragraph, see http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/afffe0302ec0de994416203ede74a3466g.jpg for how i set up my corridor (coast that gets tides is above it)

Hrmm, since you have a straight path to the sea, the tide could very well be propogating at the notch that you made on the shore and continuing down.

It could just be an interesting bit of DF physics rather than a bug.

Edit: RogueCommander, see this thread http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=61071.0 since the OP of that thread is using a similar setup.

Correct, that's exactly what is happening. It seems a bit strange to me :)

I'm seeing this in 34.11.

*I should mention, this doesn't have to occur with constructed floors. I dug towards the ocean from the same Z-level, and still got this result.

Still happens in 40.03
In fact, they seem to be completely disregarding z-levels.
I have a small pool of magma in a constructed container a dozen or so z-levels above the sea and the ocean waves seem to generate steam because they think they're in contact with the magma. Obsidian is not created.
