Summary | 0002629: Pressing the 'one step' key occasionally completely unpauses the game, sometimes it just briefly goes to unpause and pause.
Description | I'm not sure if its just a key sensitivity issue with my computer or something else. It doesn't happen very often and is really just an annoyance since it still works like it should. I also noticed this with .08

Just to clarify by the briefly unpause and pause, it flashes to the unpaused state for less than a seconmd before it reverts. |
What do you mean by "completely unpauses the game"? |
I mean instead of just advancing it by one step, it just unpauses. |
I can confirm this in .08. Sometimes when single stepping through, say, a combat sequence my game will stop being paused and just run as if it were never paused (pause indicator vanishes, games runs, game will pause again normally if space is pressed). This un-pausing seems to be 100% reproducible if you pummel the single step button on a freshly loaded game (make sure pause on load is set). edit: I should note that I am using the sdl linux version of .08. |
Yea, thats pretty much how it happened for me, I was pressing the single step button rapidly. I was using the SDL windows version .08 and the .10 is also SDL windows version. It is 100% reproduceable, but it doesn't always happen, which is why I put sometimes on the reproduceablity. |
Still happens in 0.31.25. I can only get it to reproduce (accidentally) if the framerate is around 10 or lower. |
Still happens in 40.08, at least in the case of rapid single step right after initial load (I can reproduce by hitting '.' 3 times quickly after load). I haven't had a fort lag badly enough to test the after load case (as I recall, the fort's fps had to be around 15 or lower). |
I can get this to reproduce in 0.44.11 (macOS), but only immediately after loading a save. Waiting a few seconds before pressing '.' appears to avoid the issue. |
