Description | I'm in my third or fourth year and have as yet not seen a single goblin. I've been looking around and apparently they are supposed to show themselves in your first year or so. I would really like to know what's happening. | ||||

Are you sure there is an active goblin civilization in your world and they aren't extinct through wars? Are you on an island? Do the goblins (or other civs) have overland access to your fort (not locally, but on the world map)? Did they show up as your neighbor on the embark screen? |

Chances are there are simply no goblins in your region. Goblins do not seem to be nearly as robust as they were in 40d, it seems to be quite common now to gen a world that has no goblins. |

There were apparently goblin civilisations in my world with living populations. I am not sure if I was on an island or if goblins had overland access, or if I had them as a neighbour. To test this I made another map, ensuring that I had goblins on my embark screen that had overland access. It has so far been a year without any sign of goblins again. Is there any way I can guarantee goblin invasions, or should I just change back to an older version? |

Goblins arrive a lot later than in earlier versions now. I had the same problem, then year 6 rolled around and suddenly I got seiged 3 times in a row by the buggers, the last seige even had a demon master and troll squad. |

I second the notion that you need to wait a while. I have not seen 6 game years, but I have seen 3 game years before an attack. Make sure you use the tab button before you embark to make sure that goblins are active in the particular area you chose. http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Embark#Changing_Views has more info on that. You can have a world with goblins, but they might not be around a certain area. |

Yes, they were very helpful. In the end I just started a new world and made sure I had neighbouring goblins. |
