When does it crash during saving? That is, what particular phase of the saving process?

What OS are you using? 32- or 64-bit?

Where is the game installed?

Do you still experience this problem in the newest version, 31.10? http://bay12games.com/dwarves/

the game is installed on disk E which is a external hard disk. It might be related to a earlier bug I reported about blue screen opon saving which was on a diffrend computer but because I wanted to move everything over easily I just took the hard disk and used it here again (so the same instal.) I haven't tried with 31.10 yet because I will soon be switching computer again and I don't want to have to go trough the trouble of download ext. (something which seems to have a tenency to go wrong somehow...)

oh and it has now become a regular problem that keeps comming back

Does the problem still occur if you install DF on your internal hard drive rather than the external one?

I'm using windows XP on 32 bit. Moving it into the internal hard drive will be problamatic because it's ancient hardware that does not have the space to both operate properly and have that addicional free space in use.
