Summary0003026: Constructing fortifications sometimes places down stairs instead
DescriptionBasically what it says on the tin. I've been creating a small aboveground fortification system, and occasionally when I place an order it places a bunch of stairs instead. Before you ask, yes, I'm sure I got the right button, I was especially careful after the first time.
Steps To ReproduceRandom, although seems to happen after I place one construction and move straight on to the next without leaving the construction menu.

It would really help if you uploaded a series of screenshots, a recorded movie, or even a save where the fortifications are designated but haven't been built yet (just before they become stairs).

I'll give it a go, but like I said, it's very random and only happens a small amount of the time. Also, they are designated as stairs immediately upon ordering, not upon construction. (By the way, it's happened with walls too) I don't think a save from before I place them would be any good, I'll make a copy next time it happens.

OK, it happened again. Here's the link: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2962
When you load it, there should be a tower at the center of the screen. The bottom right corner of the tower wall was supposed to be a wall, obviously, but it came out as a stair upon placing. I hope this is useful.

Sounds like you accidentally hit "d" instead of "F". It's also quite common to accidentally build floors instead of fortifications, since in that case the only difference is whether or not you held the Shift key long enough.

WJSabey, feel free to reopen this if you can provide more concrete evidence that the game interpreted the keypress wrong or something.
