Summary | 0003139: Moody dwarf gained skill but remained rusty
Description | I had a low-skilled Metal Crafter who had been reassigned to be a herbalist after one of my other metal crafters got a mood and became Legendary, so his metal crafter skill eventually got very rusty. Just recently, he withdrew from society and produced an artifact bronze earring. He is now a "Legendary Metal Crafter (V Rusty)" - one would expect that the skill gain from a strange mood would clear away any associated rust...

I've noticed this as well. I tend to give each of my farmers/non-moodable dwarfs one skill in weapon or armorsmithing. When they have a mood, they go from dabbling to Legendary, but have the (V rusty) tag. I assume that rusting cannot decrease a skill below nothing. So that rusting "saves up" until they get skills? It was rather disheartening to have a Legendary armorsmith producing "no name" goods. |

As far as I`ve read to get rid of rust requires making quite a few items, so one item even if ledgendary isn`t enough. Is this intentional with artifacts is the question. |

A while ago, my Chief Medical Dwarf (who was a very rusty Gem Setter) got a strange mood, produced a perfect star ruby (worth 144000☼), and became a legendary gem setter, though in this case the rust was actually removed. |
