Summary0003153: Building floors always results in "job item lost or destroyed" message, removal of floor designation
DescriptionEver since Spring of the third year in my current fortress, every attempt to build a stone floor has resulted in the designated floor disappearing, with a "Job item lost or destroyed" message. I have been building a lot of constructed floors in the game, but there seems to now be an upper limit on them that I was previously unaware of. These floors are being built into open space, from adjacent (non-diagonal) constructed floors, but I've done this many times before without any problems.
Steps To ReproduceBuild 200+ constructed floors to make above ground/indoor food storage rooms? I've done this before in previous versions of Dwarf Fortress, without incident, though.
Additional InformationI would upload a save, but my registration on DFFD seems to be stuck, with the activation process started but no activation e-mail being sent (yes, I checked the spam-trap for it).

Were you using rock block or stone?

If blocks, were they in a mason's shop that happened to be deconstructed after you designated them?

Did you happen to forbid certain stones/blocks that may have been designated for use in the floor?

Are the designated supplies or floor in a burrow?

Are they perhaps in an area that has somehow lost it pathing (due to floods, a raised bridge, etc.)?

You reported the Reproducibility as 'random' but your title says 'always'...which is it?

I reported the reproducibility as "random" because the bug doesn't always happen in every game. I've actually never seen this happen before, and I have no idea how to reproduce it. But in the particular game I'm playing, I can no longer build stone floors anywhere, either over ledges or on solid ground. It "always" responds with the message above, and cancels the build designation. I haven't defined a burrow, and the masons seem to be able to reach walls and stairs that I'm building in the same area without problems, they just won't build floors out of stone.

I have tested it with stone blocks, and I can build floors with them. Just not with ordinary, unprocessed stone.

Also, I do have economic stones (magnetite, etc.) forbidden using the status menu, but I haven't changed the status of any stones since near the start of my game, around two game years before the bug started happening.

Try this. Build a stockpile very close to your site that accepts only the stone you'd like to use (marble, whatever!) Wait for it to fill with the stones. Then try building your floor.

I have seen this error when a dwarf goes to build a stone toy but in the process of pathing to the rock, the rock moves. For me, the rock moved because I was channeling out from under it. Is it possible that the stones they are going to use to build floors are doing this? Can you build other things (walls, ramps, etc?)

This might be a bug if the stone is being queued for one job but then still being allowed to be used for something else. Usually when a job is queued, a hold jets put on the item.

Ah, that was the problem... all the non-economic rocks I'd dug up were in an area that I was channelling out for a lava pit. Sorry, wasn't a bug at all, just an unstable source. Please remove this report.
