Summary | 0003165: Butchering happens instantly for live animals, even elephants
Description | If you assign an animal for slaughter, the entire job (killing the animal and butchering it) happens instantly, and the dwarf will immediately go on to the next job. However, if you butcher a skeleton, the process seems to take about the right amount of time (certainly it takes the size of the animal into account). The dwarf will fetch the skeleton and then sit in the butcher workshop for a while. I don't know about butchering corpse. In 40d the killing part would happen instantly, but the dwarf would still be queued in the job for a while, depending on how cluttered the butchery was (and the size of the animal?).
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Butcher an animal. Note how long the process takes. Butcher multiple. The action happens instantly. 2. Butcher a skeleton. Note how long the process takes.
