Summary | 0003535: Identical color modifiers among starting seven, perhaps also immigrants and other civ members
Description | Very often, the starting seven will have fully identical colors in one or more category of skin color, eye color, and hair color. A more detailed breakdown of two games can be found in this thread: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=70156.0 . The first game (uploaded for an unrelated bug here http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3336 ) is a 550 year world, and the second is a 2 year world, to test whether genetic variance changes with time. While it did generate two civilizations without identical color modifiers, it also generated a civilization whose members without fail had emerald eyes, pink skin, and burnt sienna hair. The descriptors that are static remain static even after abandoning a fortress. As such, it seems that the genetic profiles of civilizations can grow too static, whether over time, or suddenly.
Steps To Reproduce | Check the starting
Additional Information | Appearance modifiers other than color also seem to be able to move towards a single modifier that all dwarves in a civilization have, but I have done no true research on that.

Generated few different worlds -- still happens in 0.42. It appears that in majority (but not all) of civilizations one or more colors is same for every dwarf (e.g. all dwarves have emerald eyes). This is true not only for the starting dwarves, but also for all dwarves from corresponding civilization (including adventurers and dwarves met by adventurers). Didn't check non-dwarven civilizations, though. |
|
Many dwarves within the first 100-180 years of generation without being killed off are the same original descendants of those first generated in worldgen, without the opportunity to diversify through descendants often being picked out of the quantity of dwarves. Moreso if the said race is immortal and they can continue persisting forever. Noticed up to version 44.12 |
