Summary | 0003705: Worldgen dwarves (monarchs, kings, queens) have no material preferences
Description | The King just arrived in my current fortress (actually alive this time - the last one dropped dead of old age upon arrival), and he has absolutely no material preferences.
Additional Information | This is yet another long-standing bug that dates all the way back to the 2D versions.

In the past, the lack of material preferences caused kings to never issue any mandates; I haven't played with a 0.31 king long enough to see if this is still the case, but it most likely is, which would make the monarch far less annoying than it probably should be. |
|
For the record, one of my fortresses from 0.31.14 has a living King who makes no mandates, and a test confirms that giving him item/material preferences (using DFHack) does allow him to start making mandates. |

AFAIK Toady mentioned fixing skill/preferences etc of worldgen members of civilisations. |

Reminder sent to: Kogut "AFAIK Toady mentioned fixing skill/preferences etc of worldgen members of civilisations." Any idea where he mentioned that? I couldn't find it in the devlog or FOTF. |

This forum post suggests that this hasn't yet been fixed: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=104909.msg3104467#msg3104467 |

Well, normal historical figures do have preferences and full fledged personalities, at least. Maybe there is a problem with historical figures with entities' positions? |
|
Maybe it's the difference between historical figures created (on demand) from entity populations (as is the case when talking to "unnamed" people in Human cities in Adventurer mode, which can sometimes result in duplicates as with 0005106) and historical units that were created in full detail during worldgen (megabeasts, semimegabeasts, night creatures, and non-culled histfigs such as kings) and offloaded to the various unit-*.dat files. |
