Are you sure it's not a cultural/societal thing with just this civ of dwarves? |

Yeah, that didn't cross my mind. Anyway... I've seen in both my fortresses in 31.18, each in a separate world. It would be nice if other people checked their own saves if it's true. Ideally, the fortresses should be quite young, since in older ones, the clothes could already be worn and torn. Also, if you see your dwarves are NOT wearing dresses, please check if dresses are available at all. |

All Dwarves used to all wear dresses (all clothing items, really, at once) in prior versions. It may be normative for Dwarf Fortress Dwarves at this point. |

In case you're emphasizing the gender angle here, DF doesn't have gender-specific clothing (yet). |

It's mostly the fact that they all wear exactly the same thing that bothers me. There's a lot of room for variation even with the gender non-specific vanilla clothings. |

Each civilization will have its own culture and you can see this in the kinds of items they use. For example, some dwarven civilizations have high boots. Some have low boots. Some have both high and low boots. For some civilizations, well, I guess they all wear dresses... o_O |

There are no dresses on my embark dwarves in the version I just checked (34.06). Other dwarf civs might have dresses be the common clothing. Dress being taken in the broadest possible sense -- men in many real world civilizations wear these. If there's a better word, I'll use it, but I couldn't think of one while I was adding them. |
