Summary0003880: menu opening/cursor spawning options will not work
DescriptionI can't use anything that will open up a menu or spawn the cursor. like the unit screen or look around. i can use the tab thing, and move the map, but nothing else

Do you by chance have a non-english keyboard, or perhaps have caps lock on?

I had the same problem, and my keyboard is US-EN, and I certainly checked for capslock. Restarting DF solved the issue though.

It would help if both of you would also include your game version number/type and your OS.
