Description | The first time that a human caravan came, I received the usual announcements that they had arrived and that they had reached the trade depot and were unloading their goods. But there was no announcement that they were "leaving soon", and no announcement that they were packing up their goods to leave. They arrived at my embark site on 12th Galena, began unloading on 16th Galena, and on 24th Galena I noticed that they had left the trade depot and were about halfway to the edge of the map. I was still able to trade with them at that time. The obvious explanation for their unannounced departure after such an unusually short time is that they were attacked. However, buzzards were the only hostile creatures on the map that went near the trade depot. I thought human caravans were made of sterner stuff. (I checked the list of old announcements to make sure I hadn't missed anything. The announcements of the caravan's arrival and unpacking were there, but there were no other announcements about the caravan.)
If it is intended that human caravans should flee in the face of buzzards, it still is a problem that I don't get an announcement about it. And of course it's a bug that I was still able to "trade" with the caravan while it was fleeing, thus getting to keep all the things I "traded" to them. Of course, I was going to get to keep all their stuff anyway since they didn't pack up before leaving/fleeing, but it doesn't make sense that I can perform nonsensical "trades" that are "profitable" for the merchant, making him happier. |
