| Description | Dwarves won't dump items that are outside. I've read that this is because setting dwarves to ignore refuse from outside also makes them ignore dumpable items from outside. WHY? Items marked for dumping are things that I specifically marked to be dumped. If I hadn't wanted them to be dumped, I wouldn't have marked them in the first place. If there is going to be a global setting that can make dwarves ignore outside items that are specially marked for dumping, it should be a separate setting from the one for refuse, and should be set to Dwarves Dump Items From Outside by default. Yet another beginner's trap. | ||||

For all intents and purposes, items designated for dumping are considered to be refuse - back when the designation was first added, it was called "Chasm" and it made dwarves throw the item into the chasm and destroy it. |
