Summary | 0004382: Dwarves will not pull water from source OTHER then well
Description | I first discussed this topic on the forum to make sure it was not something I was doing wrong. The conversations can be found here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=80725.msg2121244#msg2121244 The bug can be described has a resistances for dwarves to acknowledge that there is any other water source then well water. Even though there were pools accessible to the dwarves above and below ground, they will not drink (and sometimes die of thrust) if no well is built. In the forum post is a description about the steps I could to reverse this.
Steps To Reproduce | I do not know how to produce this. It does not seem to be provoked.

You probably have saltwater on your map. Does that clear things up? |
|
No saltwater at all. Much of my water is pulled from underground aquifers anyways. It all says "water". It my murky pools it says "water". |
|
Saltwater is just labeled as water. The main indicator of saltwater is that your dwarves won't drink it. I made a suggestion that saltwater be properly labeled: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=53964.0 |

Well, if this is so then you must be right. It is strange that I had really no way of telling it was saltwater, and that it is also seeping out of my ground water. How does one make a bathing pool then? Just dig a pool, and fill it with well water (which is really just salt water?) |
|
I'm not sure what exactly a bathing pool entails, but I believe dwarves will still clean themselves with salt water. In any case, sounds like we're out of bug territory now. |
