Summary0000447: Can't use question marks when customizing names/professions
DescriptionIf, while editing a custom name or profession (via Status > Customize), you try to type a '?' character, then you get the help screen appearing instead of adding a question mark to the name you're editing.
Additional InformationThis is a really awkward issue to search for (you try searching for '?' or 'question'!) so it may be a duplicate.

Reminder sent to: oliver

Does this still occur in 31.08 SDL?

Yes, this still occurs under 0.31.08 (linux, sdl).

Another odd thing I noticed while retesting: after you hit esc to get out of the help screen, a pipe character (|) has been appended to the name/profession.

When entering a burrow name, the ? becomes a |. This is in WINXP SP3 31.08 SDL (I switched from legacy because it was driving me nuts not to have the mouse working for designations). Numbers will eventually be entered if you hold down the key, but the cursor is also moved for every key repeat for numerals 1-4 and 6-9. Only 0 and 5 work at all in legacy no matter how long you hold down the keys. I did not try the ? in legacy for a burrow name.

Still occurs in 0.34.11. Interestingly, adding Alt-? (Alt-Shift-/) to character 063 in keybindings > text entry produces a question mark when typed and not a pipe. (It could be that pressing esc to leave the help screen causes the pipe instead of pressing ?, although I'm not sure.)
